THIRD FIGHT Boxing news: Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 reportedly now scheduled for October 3rd in Las Vegas

The Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy fight is reportedly now scheduled to take place on October 3 in Las Vegas.

After the Brit knocked out the American on February 22, it didn’t take long for the loser to activate his rematch clause so he can attempt to regain his belt.

It was initially suggested that the third bout could happen as soon as July 18, but this is no longer the case.

Instead, according to The Athletic, October 3 is now the plan with the fight set to return to Las Vegas once again.

Bob Arum explained the delay to ESPN, claiming it was due to the coronavirus pandemic: “You could not guarantee the fighters that the event would take place on that date. We couldn’t convince them or ourselves.

“Where were they going to train for it? It just made no sense. You just have to take a step back. How are you going to sell tickets? It’s absolutely ridiculous to say the fight is on when the Brits can’t even get there.

“So everybody has to take a step back. Boxing is not isolated. It’s part of what’s happening in the world. So possibly the fight will be in early October.”

Meanwhile Dillian Whyte has slammed Wilder for even accepting the third fight.

He told Sky: “It’s ridiculous, considering he lost the first fight. I think Tyson Fury is better than him in every department.

“What’s he going to change now that he hasn’t changed in the past 12-15 years? Nothing, he’s going to change nothing.

“He can’t throw a jab, he can’t box. His balance is terrible, his neck is too weak and he doesn’t hit as hard as everyone says.”
