Cultists storm Rivers community, kill three

Image
Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt Gunmen suspected to be cultists stormed Oyorokoto community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and killed three persons. The incident was said to have happened Sunday night barely 24 hours after a suspected cultist killed five indigenes of Ogbele community in Ahoada East LGA. It was gathered that the killings in Oyorokoto community had created tension within the area, even as the local government council was said to have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to forestall a recurrence of the ugly incident. The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Mr. Ere Victor, told newsmen on Monday that the curfew was only imposed on those in Andoni mainland from Ngo town. “The dusk-to-dawn curfew was imposed to prevent further deaths or reprisal. I have directed the security agencies to arrest perpetrators of this act as well as sponsors of these cultists in Andoni Local Government Area,” he added. He promised to continue to work hard to

Google’s Self-Driving Car Gets Into A Minor Accident While The AI Was Driving

Image
It was bound to happen eventually: one of Google’s self-driving cars has gotten into a minor accident – and, for once, it was while the AI was in control. Google’s cars have actually gotten into a dozen-plus fender benders over the years.. but in the previous cases, the government-mandated human driver was actually the one controlling the vehicle when the accidents occured. In this case ( DMV report here ), Google says it outright: yep, the vehicle was in autonomous mode. Here’s what happened, straight from the DMV report : A Google Lexus-model autonomous vehicle (“Google AV”) was traveling in autonomous mode eastbound on El Camino Real in Mountain View in the far right-hand land approaching the Castro St. intersection. As the Google AV approached the intersection, it signaled its intent to make a right turn on red onto Castro St. The Google AV then moved to the right-hand side of the lane to pass traffic in the same lane that was stopped at the intersection and proceeding straight. Chelsea to unleash Pato on Norwich Read more at:

Chelsea manager, Guus Hiddink has suggested that there could be an opportunity for Brazilian star, Alexandre Pato, who arrived on loan from Corinthians last month, to make his Chelsea debut, particularly as Hiddink is contemplating giving Diego Costa a rest with one eye on the second leg of our Champions League tie against PSG, which takes place next Wednesday. Pato ‘Pato is eager and there is healthy competition among the strikers with Diego as number one, it’s a very good atmosphere,’ said the Dutchman. ‘The others have stepped up and I’m happy with the progress of Bertrand Traore. ‘He’s not ready for 90 minutes but he’s ready to play part of the game. That’s why I said in his situation the best thing was to have him on loan, so he could get used to the club and the club could make a proper judgement on his performances. ‘We have to be careful with some players that they’re not going over the top with their physical load.’ John Terry, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury,

Leo had an awkward moment with his Oscar and the Photoshops are awesome

Image
Leonardo DiCaprio may have finally won an Oscar at the Academy Awards, but he is not excused from being the subject of a solid Photoshop Battle. After all, the Internet loved poking fun at Sad Leo for losing the Oscar nomination in the past, so when he finally won on Sunday, it was inevitable the the Photoshops were going to start rolling in. At one point, someone snapped a photo of Leo on his phone, his statuette at his feet. It's unclear exactly what Leo was doing at that moment — maybe he was texting someone, maybe he was tweeting — but it was clear that this was going to be a perfect photo for some quality 'shops. We can all relate. IMAGE: LECHODU67 Meta IMAGE: LECHODU67 Is this real life? IMAGE: OMNISHAMPOO Back at it again. What Oscar? IMAGE: VEIGAR_BOT Sad Keanu no longer has Sad Leo to hang with. Ese Oruru Allegedly Abducted In Bayelsa Regains Freedom

Image
A 14-year old girl, Ese Oruru, allegedly abducted in Bayelsa State and taken to Kano for marriage under Islamic rites has been released to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase.
According to a source, the girl was handed over to the Inspector General of Police in Kano and is billed to be reunited with her family on Tuesday. The ordeal of Ese started on August 12, 2015 in Yenagoa of Bayelsa State, when Yinusa a known customer of Ese’s mother abducted her from Bayelsa to Kano on the purported excuse that she had converted to Islam. Yinusa was a Keke [tricycle] rider in Yenogoa, who sold all his belongings before he eloped with the girl. Ese’s parents have travelled to Kano State on several occasions in the past six months with officers of the Nigeria Police Force to secure her release without positive result. Her kidnap has caused quite an outrage, as earlier on Monday the President of the Ijaw Youth Council, Comrade Udengs Eradiri, in Yenagoa issued a 14-day ultimatum to t

Jay Z's Tidal hit with lawsuit over royalty payment

Image
While Jay Z has boasted that Tidal gives artists higher royalties than any other streaming service, a new lawsuit alleges that the company isn't always paying them. In a class-action complaint filed on Saturday, John Emanuele of the band The American Dollars alleges that he has not yet received any royalties from the streaming service. In the same suit, the band's label, Yesh Music, alleges that it has only received reduced royalties from Tidal, accusing the streaming service of "deliberately miscalculating" per-stream royalty rates and diluting payments by "up to 35 percent." Shortly after its launch in March of 2015, Tidal owner Jay Z said that the service "pays 75% royalty rate to ALL artists, writers and producers — not just the founding members on stage." A Tidal executive later clarified that with Tidal, 62.5% of royalties goes to labels, while 12.5% goes to artists. She said that this still puts Tidal above industry royalty standards, whic
