Cultists storm Rivers community, kill three

Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt

Gunmen suspected to be cultists stormed Oyorokoto community in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and killed three persons.

The incident was said to have happened Sunday night barely 24 hours after a suspected cultist killed five indigenes of Ogbele community in Ahoada East LGA.

It was gathered that the killings in Oyorokoto community had created tension within the area, even as the local government council was said to have imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew to forestall a recurrence of the ugly incident.

The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Mr. Ere Victor, told newsmen on Monday that the curfew was only imposed on those in Andoni mainland from Ngo town.

“The dusk-to-dawn curfew was imposed to prevent further deaths or reprisal. I have directed the security agencies to arrest perpetrators of this act as well as sponsors of these cultists in Andoni Local Government Area,” he added.

He promised to continue to work hard to ensure that lives and property of Andoni people were protected.
