Court Remands 3 Persons In Prison Custody Over Alleged Murder Of 19-year-old Boy

A Magistrates Court in Makurdi, Benue, on Thursday ordered the remand of three men in prison custody over the alleged murder of a 19-year old man.
The three accused persons: Samaila Salisu, (20); Mohammed Abubakar, (20) and Abubakar Idris, (25), reside in Wadata area of Makurdi.

They are faced a two-count charge of alleged criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Michael Lorundu, told the court that the offence contravened Sections 97 and 222 of the Penal Code, Laws of Benue State, 2004.

He told the court that the matter was reported at the ‘A’ Divisional Police Station, Makurdi, by one Alhaji Salisu Bala of No. 17, Sokoto St., Wadata, Makurdi, on April.22.

“The complainant reported that the three accused persons came to his house on a motorcycle and compound.

“The first accused person later brought out a gun and shot the victim on his forehead, which led to his death,’’ he said.

The prosecutor said investigation into the matter was still ongoing and prayed the court for an adjournment.

However the Magistrate, Mrs. Theresa Wergba, declined jurisdiction on the matter and would not take their pleas.

She ordered their remand at the Federal Medium Prisons, Makurdi and adjourned the case to June 24, for mention. (NAN)
