Woman got to say goodbye to her mother over FaceTime before she died of coronavirus (video)

Image
A woman has come out to narrate the emotinal moment she got to say goodbye to her mother over FaceTime before she died from Coronavirus, thanks to help of a nurse at a Washington hospital. Michelle Bennett was told by medics that she couldn't be in the same vicinity as her 75-year-old mother, Carolann Christine Gann, who had contracted coronavirus at Swedish Issaquah hospital in Washington. Michelle Benneth, who feared that her mum would die from the disease, was worried that she might never have the chance to say her last goodbyes to her sick mum. On March 26, a nurse named Tatyana knew Gann would be dying soon. She got dressed in protective gear and used her personal cell phone to give Bennett the chance to say goodbye over FaceTime. The nurse who was with the mum after noticing her symptoms get worse, then face timed Michelle. "I'm going to put the phone up to her face so you can tell her you love her and say your goodbyes," Bennett s

A new iPhone in April? Features and details to expect from Apple

Image
The iPhone 9, or iPhone SE 2, or just “new iPhone” could be launched (or just announced) by Apple as early as April 15. That’s a Friday, a day over 2 weeks into April. Clues have been stacking up – here’s what we’re expecting will be making its way to stores by around April 22nd. The next iPhone, a device that’s rumored to be called iPhone 9, could be launched in April. This device would be released at the lowest-cost end of Apple’s currently available smartphone lineup, barring the selling of the last bits of old iPhone unit stock from the last couple of years. The iPhone 9 (as we’re calling it until we’re told otherwise by Apple), will likely replace the iPhone 8, a device that effectively replaced the iPhone 7. This would be a 4.7-inch display-toting iPhone, complete with a home button / Touch ID (fingerprint scanner), and a classic iPhone 5 sort of aesthetic. That means a single camera on the back, a rectangular display up front, and an overall package that’s tr

Xerox drops $34B HP takeover bid amid COVID-19 uncertainty

Image
Xerox announced today that it would be dropping its hostile takeover bid of HP . The drama began last fall with a flurry of increasingly angry letters between the two companies, and confrontational actions from Xerox including an attempt to take over the HP board that had rejected its takeover overtures. All that came crashing to the ground today when Xerox officially announced it was backing down amid worldwide economic uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company also indicated it was dropping its bid to take over the board. “The current global health crisis and resulting macroeconomic and market turmoil caused by COVID-19 have created an environment that is not conducive to Xerox continuing to pursue an acquisition of HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) (“HP”). Accordingly, we are withdrawing our tender offer to acquire HP and will no longer seek to nominate our slate of highly qualified candidates to HP’s Board of Directors,” the company said in a statement. The government said 1,789 people had died in hospitals from coronavirus as of 16:00 GMT on Monday, an increase of 381 from Sunday, the largest rise in absolute terms yet. "The increase in the number of deaths is deeply shocking, disturbing [and] moving," Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said at a news conference, adding that it was not possible to predict when fatalities would peak. "It depends on the actions of all of us," he added. "We can delay that peak; we can

Manchester United must give Alexis Sanchez huge loyalty payment upon return from Inter Milan loan

Image
Manchester United will be forced to pay forward Alexis Sanchez an eye-watering loyalty payment of £1.1million when he returns to Old Trafford in July. Sanchez, 31, has spent the season on loan at Inter Milan but has struggled to make an impact due to an ankle injury. GETTY IMAGES - GETTY Sanchezs bid to rediscover his form in Italy has been a fruitless endeavour The Chilean, who is on £505,000 a week, has scored just one goal in 15 appearances in Serie A and the Italian club have opted not to sign him on a permanent deal. He is expected to return to Old Trafford in the summer with two years still on his deal at United. However, The Sun reports that the Red Devils will have to give Sanchez a hefty annual cash windfall as part of the terms when he signed from Arsenal in January 2018. Sanchez may have made his final appearance with Inter as the coronavirus crisis could cancel the 2019/20 Serie A season. Loan players, including Sanchez, will head back to th

Tichina Arnold Yes, I'm Playing G-Ma in 'Main Event' Yep, It Doesn't Crack!!!

Image
Tichina Arnold is gonna blow your mind in the first movie produced by Netflix and the WWE ... 'cause she's gonna change your concept of what grandmothers look like. Tichina was on Tuesday's "TMZ Live" to talk about "The Main Event," when the conversation quickly turned to that old saying ... Black don't crack!!! See, she's playing grandma -- or as she puts it, G-ma -- to an 11-year-old kid who gets his shot to become a WWE superstar. You gotta see what happened when we brought up her role ... mistakenly thinking she's playing the kid's mom. Ooops!!! Big time. Hey, honest mistake ... because nothing about Tichina looks grandmotherly, but we had some big laughs with her talking about it. She also confessed while Black may not crack it does do something else. Watch. BTW, TA is hosting a live virtual premiere for 'Main Event' from her social media pages ... which you can check out Friday night. We can testify, h

UK police accused of abusing power to enforce COVID-19 lockdown

Some police may have gone 'further than they should have', says government minister, amid concerns over civil liberties. A police officer speaks to a couple sat at a bench in the sunshine in Greenwich Park in London on March 26, 2020 after the government ordered a lockdown to help stop the spread of the new coronavirus, As Britons navigate their way around restrictions to try and contain the spread of the new coronavirus, there are growing fears that police officers are abusing their new powers. Some British police might have gone too far, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News on Tuesday, less than a week after the UK approved emergency legislation that gave police the power to issue instant 30-pound ($37) fines to people who gather in groups of more than two people or leave their homes without good reason such as for work, food-shopping or exercise. I am sure there are individual examples where perhaps you look at it and think that is perhaps a bit
